Whenever we host a holiday gathering at our house, I have an excuse to cook up one of the 5 or so turkeys currently taking up space in my deep freezers!

Every day I end up having to clear off so much kid’s stuff from the table to fit all of us for a meal. (Or we push it to the side and just eat next to it, let’s be real!) I got to thinking how nice it would be if the kids had their own table to beat up. A little while ago, I picked up a big empty frame for free and I made it into a hideaway “Murphy” style art table.

My eyes are barely open and I’m trying to function on who knows how many hours of sleep. I’m looking around for ideas. I noticed the massive pile of squash that’s been hogging up my kitchen island for over a week. My wheels started turning.

I am not a perfectly-kept-home type of wife. Sometimes my husband comes home from work and the house is a hot mess, the kids are running around half-naked, and I have no clue what we’re doing for dinner. But heck, I painted a chair, or built a garden bed, or did some random house project to try and avoid a weeks worth of dishes overflowing in the sink.

You know the basics you don’t want to forget: toothbrush, hair ties, lip balm, camera… But a few extras made my list. I knew this would be my last baby, so I treated myself a bit. [Call it a reward for spending 3 years of my life growing my four little humans.]
